Dillon County deputy charged with suspect assault

August 9, 2013

DILLON, S.C. (AP) – A Dillon County sheriff's deputy has been arrested after authorities say he assaulted a suspect who was handcuffed.

The State Law Enforcement Division says 48-year-old Ken Carlisle Rogers was arrested Friday and charged with misconduct and second-degree assault and battery.

Authorities say Rogers was responding to an assault call last month when he used pepper spray and a stun gun on a suspect who was handcuffed and shackled. Police say Rogers also slapped the suspect in the face.

It wasn't known if Rogers had an attorney.
