UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA — Provided

— The University of South Carolina awarded degrees to 1,643 students from all eight USC campuses at the Colonial Life Arena, including 1,141 from the Columbia campus.

One of those graduates was easily recognizable by his fuzzy, yellow footwear. Tyler Fullbright of Anderson, S.C., received his degree in exercise science and plans to attend physical therapy school in the fall. For the past four years, he’s been USC’s beloved mascot Cocky.

“There are so many things people don’t know about being Cocky. Sure it’s great for 80,000 people to cheer for you in the stadium, but the thing that got me the most was the chance to interact with people,” Fullbright said. “I would get to go into a hospital and meet a sick kid, give him a hat and put a smile on his face. Making dreams come true is the biggest thing I got out of this job.”
