Art, dinner and a movie: On Sunday, Aug. 18, Steven Naifeh, the Aiken-based author, artist and scholar, will give a personal tour of his exhibition, “Found in Translation: The Art of Steven Naifeh.”

Following a catered artisan picnic, head to the Nickelodeon theatre to watch “Pollack,” the Academy Award-winning film based on Naifeh’s biography of the modern artist.

The program begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Columbia Museum of Art, 1515 Main St. Tickets are $100; $75 for CMA and Nickelodeon members or $175 per couple; $125 CMA and Nickelodeon members.


The next Science Cafe talk features a talk by MUSC SmartState Endowed Chair Dr. John Schaefer. Dr. Schaefer is an innovator in creating patient simulator training and research labs across the state in Beaufort, Charleston, Clemson, Columbia and Spartanburg.

The talk is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Speakeasy cocktail bar in Five Points, in connection with National Inventors’ Month, and sponsored by IT-ology. www.engenuitysc.com/sciencecafe.
