Columbia man charged after early morning shooting

— Columbia police arrested Frankie James McDaniel, 50, shortly after an early morning shooting that sent a woman to the hospital.

The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Gonzales Gardens Apartments, interim chief Ruben Santiago said in a release. The victim was shot and grazed by a bullet during an argument. Doctors have said that her neck injury is not thought to be life threatening, Santiago said.

McDaniel was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Wednesday afternoon, charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime and pointing and presenting a firearm.
