— Greenville’s Loggerhead Apparel is gearing up for football season with a new line of the company’s signature polos. The new polos feature school colors for Clemson and USC.

And owners Zac and Sara Painter know their colors. The Painter household is one divided.

“I’m a Clemson fan and Zac is a Carolina fan,” Sara says. “So we are in our personal lives and in our company a house divided. So we have to offer options to both.”

The new line includes four varieties to fit any fan’s taste. For USC fans, Loggerhead offers a black polo with Loggerhead’s signature logo in garnet. For Clemson fans, the company offers a Clemson orange polo with the logo in white.

“We’re always looking for something new and different,” Sara says. “It’s just a little bit more understated way of being able to show your school pride but also wear a shirt that you would normally wear in your wardrobe.”

The Painters founded Loggerhead Apparel in February 2011 with a mission of offering American-made and mainly South Carolina-made products as well as helping protect South Carolina’s Loggerhead sea turtles. All the company’s products are produced in the United States, with most of the process completed in South Carolina. Loggerhead manages its inventory and embroidery at a shop in Mauldin.

The company has also raised thousands of dollars for Loggerhead sea turtles. It gives 10 percent from each sale to the cause.

Loggerhead Apparel will offer its collegiate line throughout the year. In addition to Gamecocks and Tigers colors, the company also offers University of Georgia, Coastal Carolina and other school colors at select stores and online.
