Thursday letters: Five Points too dark after dark

— On a recent weeknight my husband and I parked in front of Natural Vibrations at 719 Harden St. near Saluda Avenue. We strolled to Yesterdays restaurant at the corner of Harden and Devine streets. I noticed then and later that everyone walked in twos or threes; no one was walking alone.

As we walked back to our car a little before 9 p.m. I felt uncomfortable about our safety because there was poor lighting at the corner of Harden and Saluda. Never had I ever felt so vulnerable in Five Points.

More lighting makes for less crime. With college classes beginning and schools opening, a street light needs to be installed now at that corner where we were parked.
