Preview: Riverbanks Zoo’s zip line

Staff writer Joey Holleman and staff photographer Tim Dominick are out at Riverbanks Zoo this morning trying out the new zip line. One set takes you over the carousel plaza; another is a 1,000-foot line that goes over the river.

The zip line canopy tours at Riverbanks Zoo open to the public on Friday.

What: Zippers are strapped into a harness attached to a trolley that rolls on a cable through the forest canopy and over the Saluda River.

When: Daily tours start at 9:30 a.m., and the last tour for now takes off at 3:30 p.m. Tours take two to three hours.

Cost: Zip the Zoo!, the shorter course near the carousel plaza, $30 for Riverbanks Society members, $45 for nonmembers; ZOOm the River!, including the 1,000-foot line over the river, $40 for Riverbanks Society members, $55 for general public. Prices include general admission.
