Richland father arrested in infant’s death faces second abuse charge

— he father charged last week in the death of his newborn son has been arrested on an additional child abuse charge.

Agien Jamar Miller, 22, was arrested and charged Thursday with abuse/inflicting great bodily injury upon a child.

Richland County sheriff’s deputies accuse Miller of shaking and squeezing his 1-year-old daughter, causing “serious injuries to her upper and lower body.” The incident occurred between May 15 and Sept. 17, 2012, according to a news release issued Friday.

This is the second abuse accusation against Miller, who faces a homicide by child abuse charge in the death of his 7-week-old son. In that incident, the boy died after he was admitted to Palmetto Health Richland hospital with suspicious injuries.
