10th Annual Sheriff James R. Metts Golf Tournament: Sept. 9 at the Country Club of Lexington, 1066 Barr Road. Thirty four-member teams. Proceeds benefit the James R. Metts Endowed Scholarship at Charleston Southern. Fourth annual Burns Foundation Golf Outing: Sept. 16 at Cobblestone Golf, 280 University Club Pkwy., Blythewood. Registration begins at noon; tee-off at 1 p.m. Cost is $75 per player (includes entry into all events, 18 holes of golf, riding cart, lunch, dinner and various awards). Open to age 7 and older. Mid Carolina Golf Club Patriot Golf Day Tournament: Sept. 21, at 3593 Kiblers Bridge Road, Prosperity. 8 a.m. Shotgun (first 32 teams) and 2 p.m. shotgun. Captain’s choice format. Cost is $60 per person or $25 per military personnel (current and former military and their spouses). Entry fee includes golf, range balls, prizes, drinks on course and cookout after play. All proceeds benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which supports families of those who have died or become disabled during military duty. Color Me Rad 5K: Sept. 28 outside Colonial Life Arena, 801 Lincoln St. Waves of runners will take off every five minutes beginning at 8 a.m. and will be doused with color that dyes their T-shirts. All ages welcome. Proceeds will benefit Happy Wheels. Participants can use code HWKIDS for 15 percent off registration fee.


SOAR Fall Youth Soccer: First practice begins week of Aug. 26. Practice one day per week (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday). Games begin Sept. 7 and are held every Saturday morning. (803) 772-0057;
