Rain’s reign over for now

August 22, 2013

If you looked up Thursday and saw blue, that’s what the sky looks like when it’s not full of clouds. It’s been a long time since the sky over South Carolina has been mostly blue for most of a day.

The Congaree and Edisto rivers still were slightly above flood stage Thursday afternoon, and puddles remain in plenty of shady spots. But there’s only a 25 percent chance of rain in the Columbia area Friday and Saturday and near zero chance on Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service. That’s the driest four-day forecast since early June.
