RICHLAND COUNTY, SC Sheriff’s deputies surprised three people Thursday who were allegedly stealing an air-conditioning unit from a Baptist church in Lower Richland
When deputies arrived two men ran into woods near Horrell Hill Baptist Church in Hopkins and a woman tried to flee in a stolen pickup truck, according to a sheriff’s department press release. Deputies were able to catch all three and found parts from another stolen air conditioner in the pickup truck.
Gregory Wayne Skinner, 33, was charged with unlawfully obtaining non-ferrous metals, first-degree burglary, grand larceny, malicious injury to real property, the release said. He also is wanted in Calhoun County for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Danny Skinner, 26, was charged with unlawfully obtaining non-ferrous metals, the sheriff’s department reported. He is wanted in Coryell, Texas, on warrants for a controlled substance violation and for being a fugitive from justice.
Melea Walker, 45, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
All three are being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Earlier this summer, the sheriff’s department tied Gregory Wayne Skinner to burglaries and larcenies that were committed between January and July, the press release said.
The Skinners are cousins, the press release said. Walker is dating one of the Skinners.
