NEWBERRY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

— Newberry authorities hope the public can help locate Johnnie Pat Pitts. The 75-year-old Alzheimer’s patient wondered away from his home on Brown Chapel Circle in Newberry Tuesday afternoon.

Pitts is described as six feet two inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and brown plaid shirt and blue jeans.

In issuing the alert, the Newberry Sheriff’s Department said the disappearance poses a significant threat to Pitts’ life. Alzheimer’s disease can render a patient confused, unfamiliar with the location of his home or his identity.

Sheriff’s deputies were using tracking dogs to help locate Pitts.

If you have seen Pitts or have any information about his whereabouts, please contact with Newberry Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222.
