— A woman sitting on her front porch was shot in the foot during a recent incident outside the Colony Apartments in north Columbia.

The woman told police that she saw two men walking along the 3600 block of West Beltline Boulevard after midnight Saturday when she saw a muzzle flash and heard gunfire, according to a Columbia Police Department incident report. She tried to get inside to take cover but was too late.

A bullet hit three toes on her right foot, the incident report said. She wrapped her foot in towels and hid inside her apartment until police arrived. Emergency medical services transported her to a hospital.

Other neighbors told police they took cover by lying on their apartment floors as four gunshots rang out. Police found four .40-caliber shell casings in the street.

Witnesses said the suspects ran away. No one has been arrested.
