Leon pushes lead to 3 in Ontario

Hugo Leon continued his strong play with a 6-under 65 on Friday to push his lead to three strokes after two rounds of the Wildfire Invitational.

Leon, who won last week's Great Waterway Classic, ended 36 holes at 14-under- par 128.

Mackenzie Hughes carded a 5-under 66 and was joined in second place at minus-11 by Kyle Stough, who shot 3-under 68 in round two at Wildfire Golf Club.

Cory Renfrew managed a 4-under 67 to move into fourth place at 10-under 132. Nick Taylor (67), Mark Hubbard (65) and Derek Berg (67) share fifth place at minus-9.

Leon started from the 10th and parred his first two holes. After birdies at 12 and 14, Leon converted back-to-back birdie chances at 16 and 17 to move 12- under.

The Chilean parred the next two before a birdie at the second. Leon moved to minus-14 with a birdie on the fourth. He parred three in a row from the fifth before stumbling to a bogey at the par-5 eighth. Leon bounced back with a birdie at the ninth, his last, to lead by three at 36 holes.

Hughes had two birdies and seven pars on the opening nine. He traded a birdie for a bogey from the 12th. Hughes drained three birdies in a 4-hole span from the 15th to gain a share of second.

Stough carded three birdies during his outward nine to move into second place at minus-11. Around the turn, he had two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine.

NOTES: Leon also won the 2011 ATB Financial Classic ... Fifty-seven players made the cut at 2-under-par 140 ... Five earlier winners from this year -- , Stephen Gangluff, Wil Collins, Riley Wheeldon, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Joe Panzeri -- were among those that missed the cut.
