Richland County Coroner identifies victim of deadly crash

— Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has released the name of the person who died in a single car crash about 11:35 a.m. Thursday on I-126 near exit 108A.

Brittany Kaie-Ashanti Booker, 18, of Columbia, was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.

The wreck occured when Booker tried to take the Columbia downtown exit off 1-26 westbound and lost control. The vehicle left the road and overturned.

According to the coroner’s release, Booker was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene from trauma associated with the crash.
