— Several members of a middle school football team are being treated after their bus was involved in a crash Saturday.

Football players from Alice Drive Middle School were on their way back to the school after a Saturday morning jamboree at Hillcrest Middle’s stadium when their school activity bus ran off U.S. 521 North and struck a group of trees.

Twelve students and the coach, who was driving the bus, were triaged at the scene by EMS and transported by ambulance to Tuomey Regional Medical Center. At least three other students and one other coach were driven by parents and teachers to the hospital to be checked out.

Sumter School District spokeswoman Shelley Galloway said none of the injuries from the wreck appeared to be life-threatening. S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
