Aiken man killed in one-car crash early Monday

From staff reportsSeptember 2, 2013

The driver of a 2008 Ford pickup truck who was not wearing a seatbelt died early Monday morning after a one-car accident in Aiken County.

The crash happened at 12:55 a.m. on S.C. 19, about three miles north of Aiken, according to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones. Ryan Jackson, 23, of Aiken County was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple body trauma, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Jackson, who was traveling south in the F150, swerved off the right side of the road and lost control of the vehicle before traveling back across the highway and down an embankment. The truck flipped and hit a tree, Jones said. Jackson was ejected from the vehicle.

The highway patrol and the coroner’s office are investigating the accident. Alcohol and driving faster than the posted speed limit are considered to be factors in the crash, Carlton said. Results from toxicology tests are pending, he said.
