Sumter High

— Two football players have been charged in connection with an assault on a 14-year-old boy at Sumter High School earlier this year.

Police said Wednesday two 16-year-old boys , Deonte Lowery and Tiquan Colclough, had been charged with conspiracy and second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities say a 14-year-old student told police in May that three people had sexually assaulted him in a bathroom at the school several months earlier.

The teens, both 16 years old, juniors and football players, were arrested late Tuesday afternoon, and Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark said both are being charged as adults. Both were later released on $20,000 surety bond.

Police said they were still working to identify a third subject.
