Abbeville at Fairfield Central

Great battle between two state runner-ups from last season. The Panthers of Abbeville are coming off of a 35-14 loss to Woodruff, while Fairfield-Central held off Westwood last week. Fairfield Central looked suspect in its pass defense but the Panthers lack a passing attack.

Camden at Hartsville

The Camden Bulldogs are improved on both sides of the football, but their 2-0 record is in jeapordy this week when they face the 2012 3A state champion Hartsville Red Foxes. The Foxes have throttled their first two opponents by an 85-6 margin.

Conway at Rock Hill

Despite a solid win by Conway this past week and a great performance in their ground game, Rock Hill is improved and ise going to be tough to handle. Last week, backup quarterback Dylan Jones came into the second half and led a rally that nearly upset the Dorman Cavaliers.

Dorman at Greenwood

Dorman got a good win last week against Rock Hill while Greenwood struggled with South Aiken. Turnovers by the Eagles hurt their offensive effort, and they can ill afford to repeat that against a strong Cavalier team.

Northwestern at South Aiken

South Aiken played hard against the Greenwood Eagles and nearly came away with a win. But this Northwestern team is loaded on both sides of the football, and I don’t think this game will be close.

River Bluff at St. Joseph’s

River Bluff, playing primarily a junior varsity schedule this season, is playing a varsity team this week. River Bluff has looked solid, led by super sophomore Brandon Tillman at quarterback. The Gators’ defense will be tested, however, by St. Joseph senior running back Andre Stoddard.

Scotland County (N.C.) at Marlboro County

The Bulldogs of Marlboro County are 2-0 and strong on offense, but this Scottland County team will be a tough nut to crack. The Scotts are 2-0 and have scored 93 points in two games. The Bulldogs will need a big game out of junior quarterback London Johnson to compete.

South Pointe at Chester

Chester will test the strong South Pointe defense with its passing game, led by quarterback Tommy Sanders. This Stallion defense is for real, though, with all-stater Zeke Rodney, and the South Pointe offense seems to have found another gear.

Stratford at Sumter

The Stratford Knights have the best team they’ve put on the field in a long time, led by quarterback Jacob Park, a UGA commitment. Their ground game is solid, and I look for the Sumter Gamecocks to struggle in this game.

Union County at Gaffney

Big rivalry but neither team has been impressive. Gaffney has the ability to put up big points, and Union looked susceptible to that last week; but Gaffney’s defense has holes throughout and the Union offense is dangerous enough to score a lot, as well. I look for a high-scoring game.
