STEVE JESSMORE — The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News

— Myrtle Beach has been named one of the country’s 100 best places to retire in the latest ranking by “Where to Retire” magazine.

The cities are all unique, according to the magazine, but they also have many common qualities such as vibrant downtowns, ongoing education classes, volunteer or part-time work opportunities, walkable neighborhoods, excellent health care, non-extreme weather and advantageous tax situations.

Myrtle Beach is one of four South Carolina cities in the 5th edition of “America’s 100 Best Places to Retire.” The others are Charleston, Greenville and Hilton Head Island.
