Suspect sought in break-ins at 4 apartments where women were sleeping

September 10, 2013

— Richland County authorities are looking for a man who broke into four apartments between Sept. 2 and Sept. 10 in apartment communities near Dentsville as the women living in them were sleeping. In each instance, the suspect gained entry to the apartments through an unlocked window or sliding glass door, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release. Also in each case, the female residents of the apartments awoke to find the man in their apartments.

The suspect was described only as a black male of unknown age, standing 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall and wearing a dark hoodie.

The break-ins occurred between 4 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 2, Sept. 9 and twice on Tuesday at the following apartment complexes: Palmetto Garden apartments, The Chimneys apartments, Hunters Green apartments and Hunters Mill apartments, authorities said.

The Sheriff’s Department did not say whether any of the victims were assaulted or whether items were taken from the apartments.

Lott urged residents to be “vigilant and report all suspicious activity.”

Anyone with information that might help in the investigation is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) CRIME-SC (274-6372) or text ‘TIPSC plus your message’ to the # 274637.
