— The S.C. Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing will conduct an air exercise Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The public should be aware of unusual activity around Jim Hamilton-L.B. Owens Airport near downtown Columbia, according to an S.C. Air Guard release.

A civilian-looking aircraft will be escorted by F-16 fighter jets based at McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Eastover, the release said.

The 169th Fighter Wing, called “the Swamp Foxes,” are presently tasked with patrolling and protecting the skies over the southeastern United States.
