Sunday letters: Kudos to DNR for arrests

September 15, 2013

— Unfortunately, the punishment will not fit the crime in the case of the man arrested recently in the Upstate for allowing his hunting dogs to repeatedly attack a captive black bear. If it did, he would receive the same treatment as the bear.

The Department of Natural Resources should be commended for its work recently in arresting a number of criminals involved in similar activities. Hopefully, DNR will continue to watch these individuals, because their punishment is not much of a deterrent.
