RICHLAND COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT.

— A deputy with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department shot and killed a suspect following a vehicle chase Monday evening.

Sgt. Curtis Wilson with the RCSD said a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle near the Woodfield Park subdivision shortly before 10 p.m. because the vehicle’s plates did not match the vehicle. However, the suspect sped away.

The suspect drove his vehicle down Faraway Drive to East Boundary Road, where he jumped from the vehicle and opened fire. The deputy returned fire and hit the suspect, killing him.

No futher information about the suspect was available late Monday evening.
