RCSD: Officers who injured inmate acted properly

— Two officers who injured an inmate in an altercation at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center last week will not face disciplinary actions.

Gregory Roberts, 23, suffered a busted lip and needed stitches on Thursday after he assaulted two officers trying to move him, Sgt. Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson said the department has been investigating the incident for several days, interviewing Roberts and the officers. The officers, a seargent and a captain, handled the situation properly, Wilson said.

Roberts, meanwhile, could face charges. He is in the detention center facing charges of burglary, robbery and assault, Wilson said.
