Irmo man killed when motorcycle crashes with deer

COLUMBIA An Irmo man died early Wednesday morning after crashing his motorcycle into a deer.

Jonathan J. McNaughton, 31, was driving on Kennerly Road near Thelma Hicks Road shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday when a deer jumped into the roadway, according to a witness. He died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.

The.S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.

The death brings to four the number of people killed already this year on S.C. highways this year in deer collisions. In 2012, six people were killed.
