Thursday letters: Heed advice on homelessness

September 19, 2013

— In his Sept. 11 guest column (“Don’t hide homelessness; fix homelessness”), Lamar Wright presented a cogent, articulate and compassionate vision of how to solve the homeless “problem.” His proposals are intelligent, relatively inexpensive and would be an effective approach to assisting the homeless and making our city a better place to live and work.

I hope our leaders will give his ideas careful consideration. They are a much better approach than the proposal before Columbia City Council. As someone who has been homeless, he should be invited to join the task force that is considering solutions. His input would be invaluable.
