All ‘safe and sound’ after early morning fire

September 20, 2013

— No one was reported injured after an early morning fire in the Avalon development.

Around 5:30 Friday morning firefighters responded to a house fire at 145 Sandstone Road in the Avalon development, said Jeff Allen, Irmo Fire District’s chief investigator.

The first arriving trucks saw a pretty heavy fire with a lot of flames, Allen said.

Three adults and five children “all got out safe and sound,” he said. The department chaplain is currently looking after their needs, he said.

Around 8 a.m. fire fighters were still putting out hot spots.
