SCHOOLS

SPRING VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL SYMPHONIC BAND is one of only two high school bands in South Carolina to receive an invitation to perform at the State Music Educators Conference in Charleston.

RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL chemistry teacher Regis Goode has been awarded a grant on behalf of the American Chemical Society.

THE ROGERS CENTER director Bobby Cunningham has been awarded the 2013 Adult Education Rookie of the Year Award from the Adult Education Directors Division of the S.C. Associate of School Administrators.

YOUTH

JAKE CAMERON has been selected to attend the Society of American Military Engineers/U.S. Army Engineering and Construction Camp in Vicksburg, Miss. He is a junior at Lexington High School and a science, technology, engineering and mathematics student at Lexington Technology Center.

MILITARY

ARMY PFC. ALESCIA D. SYKES has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. She is the daughter of Yvonne Carrington of Columbia.

ARMY STAFF SGT. AUTUMN M. RODRIGUEZ has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal. She is the daughter of Laurie Brutcher of Columbia.

ARMY PVT. MARCUS K. DAWTZLER has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. He is a 2005 graduate of Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School in Columbia.

ARMY PFC. VICTORIA MOTA has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. She is a 2009 graduate of Swansea High School.
