SUMTER — Jerelene Pack Boatwright, 42, of 2535 Naimah Lane, was arrested Monday and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
Law enforcement responded to the home off Britton Road at 10:31 p.m. after a man was reportedly stabbed in the face with a screwdriver.
Boatwright reportedly told officers she accidentally struck the man with the screwdriver during a struggle, leaving a gash on the man's forehead and a large amount of blood on her clothes. The man reportedly said Boatwright stabbed him while he was trying to break up a fight between her and their daughter.
The daughter reportedly told officers her mother became irate during an argument with her father and began throwing items around the house. Boatwright then reportedly grabbed a hammer and threatened to "beat the skin" off the man. She then reportedly went after the daughter when Boatwright realized she was filming the incident on her cellphone. When the man attempted to separate the two, Boatwright reportedly began to "swing her arms erratically" while holding the screwdriver, stabbing the man with it in the forehead.
Deputies reportedly found the screwdriver on the hallway floor and noted blood in the bathroom where the incident reportedly took place. The victim was treated for his injury by Emergency Medical Services.
