— A Lexington County firefighter has been placed on administrative leave after an arrest.

Ben Tillman Crider Jr., 57, of Heartsease Road, Swansea, was charged Monday with second-degree burglary and petit larceny of under $2,000, according to Lexington County courthouse records. He posted bail Tuesday with the help of a Columbia bondsman.

Crider is a paid firefighter with Lexington County, according to county Administrator Joe Mergo. He is now on administrative leave, but Mergo did not say whether it was with or without pay.
