Four teens charged in Columbia vehicle break-in

— Four teenagers have been arrested and charged with breaking into a vehicle in the early morning hours last weekend.

The four teens — two males and two females, ranging from 17 to 19 — are charged with a variety of violations:

Khamori Dayvelle Scott, 17, is charged with damaging/ tampering with a vehicle, petit larcent and failure to stop on police command. Jasmine Istey Richardson, 19, is charged with damaging/ tampering with a vehicle, petit larceny and unlawful carrying of a pistol. Chelsea Lasha Dennis, 19, was charged with damaging/ tampering with a vehicle and petit larceny. And Brandon Terrell Jenkins, 17, is charged with damaging/ tampering with a vehicle, petit larceny and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The suspects were arrested by an officer on routine patrol. The group is accused of smashing out a window of a car while it was parked at the 700 block of Pavilion Street shortly after 1 a.m. Sept. 21. The suspects are accused of stealing items including an iPod, and other electronics. Scott is accused of running from police and hiding under another vehicle. Richardson was accused of possessing a gun that was reported stolen in Richland County.

Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago said officers have increased patrols where these crimes are occurring.
