Sunday letters: Irmo High theater is over the top

September 29, 2013

— The Irmo skyline is taking on a new look thanks to the Lexington-Richland 5 school board. I’m sure the Irmo High drama department needed a new place to perform, but did it really need this monstrosity?

When we passed the school referendum, a fine arts center was not a part of the package, nor were the football palaces that have been built at the high schools. We thought we were getting new schools and renovations.

I’m not sure which members of the board are up for re-election in 2014, but we certainly need to vote for some taxpayer relief.

On a lighter note, at least Irmo firefighters will have a structure where they can practice with their ladder truck.
