Tuesday letters: Obamacare can work in S.C.

October 1, 2013

— In reference to Ernie Csiszar’s remarks about the implantation of Obamacare in South Carolina (“Former state insurance chief expects snafus Oct. 1,” Wednesday), I remember vividly when automobile insurance reform was passed under his leadership as director of the state insurance department.

Down to around 10 insurance companies that would write auto insurance in our state, sound legislation was passed that enabled all South Carolinians the ability to buy insurance at a fair price. We are today an example to other states. We need to remember all our citizens who were helped at that time under extreme criticism and heavy lobbying. We must continue to care about all South Carolinians and work for them to get affordable health care and insurance. It can be done.
