Wednesday letters: We need guns for protection

I haven’t had a gun (pistol) since I was in the Navy over 50 years ago. I presently don’t own one, but would buy one if I wished.

About 250 years ago, the Brits made it clear why we need weapons — to protect ourselves from thugs both within and without the government.
