Site: The Wolf Den. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: It’s showdown time for two unbeaten Midlands teams in the final non-region round of 2013. Actually, it’s the second year in a row the teams will square off with identical 5-0 records … Spring Valley built a 28-3 lead in the first half before falling asleep against South Aiken. The Vikings, however, were never in trouble of losing to the one-win Thoroughbreds, prevailing 28-16. QB Chris Adams had his best statistical game of the season. The senior veteran ran for 115 yards and one touchdown and was 4-for-6 passing for 55 yards and two touchdowns. John Miller ran for 82 yards and one score and also had one scoring catch. WK’s only lead of the game came on a 9-yard scoring pass from Craig Blakey to E’Mond Brown with 28 seconds to go in the game. WK was indeed fortunate to escape with a 24-20 decision. RB Quinn Jones ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Blakey was 10-for-14 passing for 159 yards and the one decisive TD pass. WR Calev Grubbs hauled in five passes for 101 yards. The good news is the T-Wolves rallied from 14-0 and 17-7 deficits to win.

Series history: White Knoll’s 30-17 win a year ago cut SV’s series lead to 3-2.

Irmo (1-4) vs. Dutch Fork (4-1)

Site: W.C. Hawkins Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: Dutch Fork is looking to respond to its first loss of the season – a 35-21 drubbing at the hands of mighty Goose Creek, which hasn’t lost a game on the field since 2011. The Silver Foxes were without two-way lineman Omar Staley and lost star running back Matt Colburn to a knee injury in the second quarter when the teams were trading touchdowns. In the end, the DF defense could not stop the Gators option attack. GC amassed 526 yards, 463 on the ground. QB Derek Olenchk was 33 for-45 passing for 369 yards and three touchdowns. WR Deion Frazer had a big game with 14 receptions for 135 yards and one TD … Irmo rallied from a 19-0 deficit early in the second quarter to beat Aiken 33-27 for its first win of the season. RB Shyheim Copeland ran for 165 yards and three touchdowns. QB Demetrius Lewis was 10-for-16 passing for 135 yards and one touchdown and scored the game-winner on a 2-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Rodrick Ladson’s interception at the goal line sealed the deal with less than a minute to play.

Series history: Dutch Fork has won five in a row to cut Irmo’s once formidable series lead to 16-7.

Jim Brittingham (9 tackles) and Brentle Allen (2 interceptions) keyed the defensive effort … Lugoff-Elgin saw its bid to end a 21-game losing streak fall short when White Knoll scored with 28 seconds remaining to escape with a 24-20 win. QB Shon Belton did his share against for L-E. The senior leader ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns and had 100 yards passing. Sophomore Aldrecio Wells was outstanding with 93 yards rushing on 20 carries. But it was not enough.

Series history: Lexington has scored three blow-out wins since the series debuted in 2010.

Blythewood (3-2) vs. Aiken (1-4)

Site: Blythewood District 2 Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

In the secondary, Leo Evans had five tackles, two pass break-ups and one interceptions … Aiken had a quick 19-0 lead and a 27-20 advantage entering the fourth quarter but ended up losing 27-20 to Irmo last week.

Series history: Blythewood romped 49-7 in the first meeting of the teams last season.

Richland NE (0-5) vs. Sumter (1-4)

Site: Harry Parone Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

The junior left-hander was 15-for-25 passing for 151 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 42 yards and two scores ... Sumter fell to 1-4 under former Blythewood coach Reggie Kennedy after the Gamecocks were dealt a 34-19 loss by Kennedy’s former charges.

Series history: RNE has won four in a row but Sumter still enjoys a 18-12 series edge.

South Florence (5-0) vs. Ridge View (2-3)

Site: Florence Memorial Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: Ridge View took a 32-14 hit last week at Westwood. RB Walter Napper provided most of the Blazer offensive highlight with 114 yards rushing and one touchdown. Otherwise, there was not much of note against the 3A Redhawks … South Florence is 5-0 out of the starting game for the first time since 1993 and is looking match the program’s best start in history with a win over the inconsistent Blazers. QB Nick Jones is 72-for-115 passing for 1,055 yards and 16 touchdowns. RB Rodney Brunson has 656 yards rushing and eight TDs on 96 carries.
