Third man arrested in stolen ATV case

— A 52-year-old West Columbia man was arrested Wednesday, charged with buying a stolen ATV.

Michael Todd Williams was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen goods, according to a press release from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies say Williams possessed on Sept. 16 a 2013 CF Moto X-500 ATV worth about $5,000 that was stolen two weeks earlier from a home near Swansea.

The sheriff’s department said Williams had reason to believe it was stolen when he bought it for considerably less than market-value. Also, Williams tried to repair the ignition system, which was damaged when it was stolen.

He is the third person arrested in relation to the ATV. On Monday, deputies arrested Robert Daniel Davis Jr. of Swansea on a grand larceny charge. Also charged in the case is Gene Carroll Rutland Jr. He was arrested Sept. 20.
