For the second year in a row, Clemson University has claimed Southern Living’s “The South’s Best Tailgate” title, the magazine announced on its website Wednesday.

The contest, which in its second year has never seen any winner but Clemson, ran from Aug. 15 to Sept. 30 and had more than 424,000 votes cast, the magazine said.

Clemson beat heavy-hitting candidates like Alabama, Texas and Georgia, as well as smaller schools like Appalachian State.

Oklahoma State University took second and Louisiana State took third.

Southern Living named fan enthusiasm, tailgate length, Howard’s Rock and the Tiger Rag as some of the reasons game day at Clemson is so highly regarded. (Last year, when Clemson beat second-place Ole Miss and third-place Alabama, the magazine also praised the paw-stamped two-dollar bills and the Clemson Blue Cheese.)
