— Austin Lyle Switzer was arrested after trying to sell a weapon reported stolen Tuesday morning from a home on Pond Branch Road in Batesburg-Leesville, Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said in a news release.

Witnesses told authorities that Switzer was seen in the area at the time of the break-in where three rifles and two shotguns were stolen, as well as ammunition, a survival knife, a laptop computer, gun cases, a camo backpack, video game console, game controllers and a video game worth a total of about $4,000.

Lexington County deputies recovered several of the weapons reported stolen when they searched Switzer’s home.

Switzer was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on Thursday evening, awaiting a Friday bond hearing, Metts said.
