— A Friday afternoon shooting between “acquaintances” in North Columbia has the Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigating.

Sgt. Curtis Wilson with the sheriff’s department said the incident occurred on Heyward Brockington Road near Camp Ground Road. He said an earlier disagreement led to a victim being chased in a vehicle.

Shots were fired, and the victim was hit in the lower body. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-thretatening injuries, Wilson said.

“We have a pretty good idea who’s responsible,” Wilson said.
