Aiken teens arrested in home burglary

— Two teenagers were arrested on Friday morning, charged with breaking into a home in Aiken.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety said a residential burglary occurred Tuesday on Whitemarsh Drive. The homeowner said her back door had shattered and items stolen.

With the help of nearby residents, officers identified and arrested Jamal Richardson, 17, of Aiken and a 16-year-old.

Richardson was located Friday morning in the Aiken Estates neighborhood. The second suspect was found in a nearby apartment complex.

Richardson is charged with second-degree burglary and grand larceny. He is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

The other teen, who was not named, is also charged with second-degree burglary and grand larceny and is being held at the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
