RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — UPDATE: Mark Barnes II was contacted Monday and determined not to be missing, The Richland County Sheriff's Department said. ---------------------- The missing 10-month-old who was missing along with his father was returned overnight to the mother by a mutual friend, according to authorities.
The father, 26-year-old Mark Barnes II, is still missing according to Richland County Sheriffs Department.
The 10-month-old, Mark Barnes III, is OK, according to the department.
Barnes, of Hopkins, was last heard from on Thursday when he messaged his fiancé to say he and his son were headed home from downtown Columbia, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a release.
When she arrived at their 2412 Carving Trail home in Hopkins she found dinner on the stove but Barnes and their son were missing. There have been no responses to phone calls or text messages, Lott said.
Barnes, who the family says suffers from serious medical conditions that put him at risk, was last seen in the Forest Acres area around 4 p.m. on Thursday, He may be driving a black 200 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck with SC tag # U26773. The truck has a black tool box and damage to the front passenger-side bumper.
