Barnes had not been seen by family and friends since Thursday afternoon. His fiancee reported the two of them missing.

Authorities had said Barnes suffered from a medical condition, but no other details have been released.

— The 26-year-old Richland County man who disappeared late last week with his 10-month-old son was contacted Monday by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Mark Barnes II was safe and “where he wanted to be,” according to Sgt. Curtis Wilson.

The 10-month-old was returned overnight Friday by a family friend.
