Body found in burned truck ID'd as Orangeburg man

October 9, 2013

Richard Michael Carter

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say the body found shot to death in a burned truck is that of an Orangeburg businessman who had been reported missing.

Orangeburg County Chief Deputy Coroner Sean Fogle said Tuesday the body has been identified as 61-year-old Richard Michael Carter.

Carter's body was found Sept. 23 in a burned truck in Santee. He had been shot in the head, but the body was so badly burned that DNA analysis was needed to identify it.

Two brothers were charged in Carter's death a week after he was reported missing. Jason Glover was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Leroy Glover faces those charges in addition to a charge of third-degree arson.

It wasn't known if they have attorneys.
