— A man dressed like a construction worker walked into a Dollar Tree late last month and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of money.

The Columbia Police Department is asking for help in identifying and locating the armed robbery suspect. He is accused of pointing a gun at a clerk at the Dollar Tree at 7546 Garners Ferry Road shortly after 9 a.m. Sept. 29.

Surveillance video shows a man with dark pants and a sweatshirt, but also a reflective vest, hard hat, dark safety glasses and a shoulder bag. He is described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds. The suspect is also described as having “severely crooked and broken teeth.”

No one was injured in the robbery.

“We typically see a spike in armed robberies during the months leading up to the busy holiday season,” said Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago in a press release.

Santiago asks citizens to call 1-888-CRIME-SC if they recognize the robber or know his whereabouts.
