RUTH BLACK

— The mother of an infant boy turned him over to the care of others Wednesday at Lexington Medical Center.

Under Daniel’s Law, the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, a child can be left in others’ protection and care without cause or fear of arrest.

Baby Boy Doe is a healthy white child, who weighed 7 pounds, 9.2 ounces at birth and was 19 inches long. He is in the care of the Department of Social Services.

A hearing will be held at Lexington Family Court, at 205 E. Main St., Lexington, at 2 p.m. Nov. 20. Anyone wishing to assert parent rights must do so then.
