COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Richland County officials scheduled to host a meeting about neighborhood planning.

The county is putting on its 9th annual Neighborhood Planning Conference on Saturday. The event features fair housing, matching grant successes, community gardening and dealing with difficult neighborhood issues.

The daylong conference is free to the public.

This year's keynote speaker is Ellen Dunham-Jones, author of “Retrofitting Suburbia: Urban Design Solutions for Redesigning Suburbs.”

The State is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point.
