COLUMBIA, SC — South Carolina State Fair officials say there is no truth to rumors circulating on some social media sites that something happened at the State Fair on Friday night that prompted officials to close the fair Saturday.
The State Fair office has received several calls from the public regarding what people said was a fight on Friday, but fair officials say there was no such incident and that the fair opened on schedule Saturday.
State Fair manager Gary Goodman said, in fact, the crowds at this year’s fair so far have been among the best behaved and that the fair is experiencing some of its highest early attendance figures.
Admission gates at the fair remain open until 10 p.m. The grandstand show Saturday features Hunter Hayes, beginning at 7 p.m.
The fair continues through Oct. 20.
