Sunday letters: Thanks for the Southern hospitality

October 13, 2013

On Oct. 4, my wife and I left Lexington, Ky., and headed south to Columbia for the University of Kentucky/University of South Carolina football game. Little did we know of the warm hospitality awaiting us. In stores, restaurants, tailgating areas and the stadium, we were greeted with “thanks for coming down,” “good luck to you all,” “glad you could come down,” etc. In one store, a Gamecock fan even tried to arrange for parking for us close to the stadium from a friend of his.

Everyone was very kind and made our trip even more enjoyable.

Thanks for the Southern hospitality.

We will see you all in March in Columbia when the basketball ’Cats play the Gamecocks.
