AUTHOR BOOK SIGNING: Author John Blackburn will discuss and sign copies of his book, “Healthy Stables by Design,” 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at Books on Broad, 944 Broad St., Camden. The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase; all of the author’s profits from this event will be donated to the South Carolina Equine Park in Kershaw County. SOUTH CAROLINA STATE LIBRARY CENTER FOR THE BOOK: Author John Cely will talk about his book, “Cowasee Basin: The Green Heart of South Carolina,” as part of the library’s Speaker @ the Center program, Thursday from noon-1 p.m., 1500 Senate St. Books will be available for purchase and autographing. Festival activities include: a screening of Shalom Sesame’s “Mitzvah on the Street” with a craft and snack for children, 2 p.m. Oct. 20; a showing of the film adaptation of Mitch Albom’s novel, “Have a Little Faith,” 3 p.m. Oct. 20; keynote speaker Mary Glickman, 8 p.m. Oct. 21. S.C. BOOK FESTIVAL 2014 AUTHOR SUBMISSIONS: The 2014 S.C. Book Festival will be held May 16-18, 2014, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Author submissions will be taken through March 1, 2014. Author submission forms and guidelines are available at www.scbookfestival.org under the “Authors” tab.
